Prior to September 2004, Dirty Aviston had never heard of an Outdoor Wood Boiler (OWB)...Most normal people haven't. It wasn't until a neighbor asked him if he "Smelled The Smoke Yet?", he became aware of what an OWB was. This Outdoor Wood Boiler (OWB) was filled multiple times a day with green wood (and who knows what else?) and smoldered and smoked for 169 consecutive days that heating season!
Dirty Aviston had responsibly used wood heat for 15+ years, he could not imagine that a wood burning device could be so disgusting and dangerous to his health. Dirty Aviston being an avid big game hunter thought the smoke he smelled was simply the neighbor using a "Smoker" to smoke some wild game. He could not have been more wrong!
When Dirty Aviston purchased his house in August 2004, he was not aware that any such thing as an OWB existed or that any such device would be tolerated in Aviston or any other village or town.
As you can see from the above picture, the OWB was not/is not visible. Even if the OWB was visible (which it clearly wasn't), Dirty Aviston would not have known what it was. That is why DirtyAviston.com was launched in an attempt to inform/educate the public before they are negatively impacted by an OWB. Hopefully you will learn a valuable lesson from Dirty Aviston’s “Cautionary Tale”!
It wasn't until the neighbor filled him in on exactly what an OWB was and how nasty they could be was he aware of the threat to his health, property, and enjoyment of his property. This neighbor was scared to speak-up because they are related to the OWB owner.
3 out of 4 houses around the OWB are directly related to the OWB owners, the 4th one may be related as well? This explains why the Village of Aviston received no prior complaints (that we know of) about this OWB.
In October 2004, Dirty Aviston attempted to talk with the OWB owner "Man-to-Man"… No Luck. It's hard to have a "Man-to-Man" talk when the other individual doesn't act like much of a "Man" to begin with? ? ? As Dirty Aviston talked to more and more people in the Village of Aviston, he soon realized what type of individuals the OWB owners were.
